OK, be honest, how many times did you check out the new Sale-A-Bration Mini Catalog?  Doesn't it just call out to you?  "Freeeeeee - everything in me is freeeeeee!"

As you know I was recently quite sick for a lot longer than I anticipated given my relatively uncomplicated diagnosis.  Since I was unable to do a whole lot more than lie there as flat as possible I could listen to the TV which gets old fast, read for short stretches at a time and think. Last week offered up Boss's Day and it got me thinking about all the bosses I have had and what kind of "boss" I used to be. And that, of course, made me think about the boss I currently have.

So let me tell you about her.  She's a little whacky but she's very understanding when it comes to family stuff.  She lets me work whenever I want as long as I get all my hours in; sometimes I play during the day and AM the Up All Night Stamper and sometimes I work during the day and spend the evenings with the boys. She usually has to remind me to take breaks or stop for lunch because I really DO love what I do and can lose track of the time.  She encourages me to socialize and loves that I have formed life long friendships through my work.  It doesn't bother her that sometimes I come to work in my PJs and she and I can crack up over the littlest things.  I am so lucky to have her as a boss and I am eternally grateful that I can have this kind of work situation at this point in my life.

Today Is Downline Day!

Welcome New Up All Night Stampers!

One of the most fun things about being a demonstrator is when someone else decides they want to be a demonstator, too.  My group is called the "Up All Night Stampers".  As much as I love finding ways to inspire and support them, they give me just as much if not more than I give them! 

Whenever someone new becomes one of the Up All Night Stampers, no matter through whom they join, I send them a card to welcome them to the group.  I want them to know that I am excited to meet them, make sure they know that I am always available if they can't get in touch with their upline and just otherwise let them know how much we value them being part of our group.

I have been experimenting with some techniques and I came up with this card -

As usual, this was a very quick card and I think it's just beautiful (yes, I know that sound braggy but sometimes I actually like my stuff!)

Can you guess what I used to make the So Saffron square in the middle of the card?  It's a clear block!  I inked up one side of the clear block and just stamped it onto the Whisper White cardstock.  You never get a "solid" imprint but instead that lovely shabby chic worn look.  It's just perfect for the pear stamp from the Faith In Nature Hostess Set (the whole set of five is just $8 in clear mount with hostess dollars!) and a greeting from the demo only set Workshop Words (available to Convention attendees and demos with friends in high places <snort>).  A quick and easy bow and - voila! - gorgeous card!  I did sprinkle a few scroll images from one of my favorites sets Elements of Style, stamped off once, in So Saffron to add some graphic texture to the background.

I liked this card so much that I am using a version of it as my thank you card for all my August customers - watch for yours included in your order delivery!

Did you know today is JK Rowling's birthday?  I am so impressed by this woman.  She took a story that she conjured (sorry) out of her imagination, fleshed it out into a book and eventually grew an empire!  Ms. Rowling has often said that her idea for Harry came out of nowhere and I think she's a testament to the fact that with a kernel of an idea and a ton of hard work, you can accomplish anything!

Today is also the birthday of a man who is my mentor and coach (yes, coaches have coaches!) and I would like to take this time to say "Happy Birthday John Sanpietro"!  John is the brains behind Stamping Is My Business and he has been instrumental in helping me to revive my business and build it even bigger than before. I can't honestly say that I would be able to do this without his information, advice and support.

SCORE!!!!

The theme at this year's annual Stampin' Up! Convention was "GROW".  Stampin' Up! encouraged us to grow our skills, grow our experience, grow our business, grow ourselves.....(hopefully NOT our waistlines!).  Of course, with a theme like that they couldn't miss the opportunity to use the parallel of growing a garden and did they EVER capitalize on that theme!  Check out some of these photos of the displays:
